Here are some common questions about Uncorked Canvas.

Events
What is an Uncorked Canvas® class like?
In a fun and relaxed setting, our skilled instructor guides you through creating the featured painting with simple step-by-step instructions. You will go home with your own personal creation. We suggest arriving about 10 minutes before the class starts to get the seat of your choice, and 15 minutes early if you are coming as a group.
I missed a painting that I really wanted to paint! How often will you repeat paintings?
Please let us know which paintings you want to see again. We love making our calendar fit your needs!
Can I bring food?
Of course! Uncorked Canvas is a social setting: we encourage bringing food for yourself and to share with your table (or with the whole class, if you’d like). There will be 1-2 breaks during the class where you can enjoy your food and drink.
Can I bring wine/alcohol to a public painting event?
Local law prohibits bringing your own alcohol to any public events. Fortunately, Uncorked Canvas provides plenty of choices for drinks (included in the event cost). Please note: There are limitations imposed on us by the State of Washington that restrict how we, as an Art Gallery, may serve alcoholic beverages at public events. For more information, see RCW 66.12.240. We are not a bar, which allows all ages to attend our events. There are a ton of fantastic restaurants within 1 mile of our studio! You can also bring food to any event. Here are just some of the restaurants nearby on Yelp (and some deliver!)
Do I need to sign up in advance?
Yes: because our seating is limited we require advanced sign-up. You can easily register online: Tacoma & West Seattle. If you want to check on last-minute seating, however, call an hour before the event (Tues.-Sat.) and we’ll let you know if we there’s space available: 253-432-4052, ext. “0”.
What is the cost of an Uncorked Canvas™ class?
The price ranges between $35-$50, depending on the night and painting. Private events are $35 per person, and kids’ public events are $25 (but if you mean a private party, here’s info on Kid’s Private Parties).
What is included in the price for a public event?
We provide canvases, paint, brushes, easels, aprons, beverages, and helpful and patient instruction from a skilled artist.
What do I wear?
We will provide aprons – but you should wear something you wouldn’t mind getting paint on (just in case).
What time do I need to arrive for a class?
It is best to arrive 5-10 minutes early to ensure you’re ready when the class begins. If you are coming as a group, please have everyone arrive at least 15 minutes early.
What size is the painting canvas?
Our standard size is a 16″ x 20″ canvas, we use a 11″ x 14″ canvas for kids’ events.
Private
Events
Does Uncorked Canvas™ hold private events?

Absolutely! We have two types of private events:

  1. Studio Events (private event held in one of our studio locations, min. 10 painters)
  2. Travel Events (private event at an offsite location, min. 15 painters)

You choose the painting, or have one of our artist design a unique painting for you (commission fees may apply). We can also work with local caterers to manage the event for you.

Studio Events can be booked when a class is not already scheduled, so reserve early for weekend events!

Travel Events can be booked Tuesdays through Thursdays, and possibly Sundays with enough advance booking. We currently are unable to schedule Travel Events on Fridays or Saturdays at this time. Limitations for distances may apply, subject to availability.

Can I use my voucher towards a private event? Can I use more than one voucher at a single event (even if my friends are the ones who sign up with it)?
Short answer: no. Private event prices are already discounted per person, and we can not combine the offers.

As the terms of the vouchers specify, you can only use one voucher – even if your friends sign up with it – for a single event. Read the fine print on your vouchers for more details or contact us.

Can we have a paint party at the same time as another event?

Tacoma: Yes! At our Tacoma studio we have our Annex room available for Studio Events, and it can be booked for almost any time. The space will very comfortably fit 13-14 painters, and costs nothing additional to reserve. Seattle: At this time in our West Seattle studio we have no additional space available for Studio Events if a public event is scheduled. However, you are welcome to attend a public event with your party – we’ll make sure space is reserved for you, just let us know in your form during registration!

Locations
What's parking like in the area?
The Tacoma location of Uncorked Canvas is downtown, so most parking is metered until 6pm Monday-Saturday (Sundays are free). Here’s a handy-dandy map of parking near our Tacoma studio.

Our Seattle location is in a mall, on the northeast side of the complex, across the aisle from 24-Hour Fitness. The nearest parking lot is between Starbucks and Marshall’s.

How can I stay up to date on Uncorked Canvas™?

Is your building wheelchair accessible?
Tacoma location: Unfortunately, the beautiful and historic Ledger Square building’s elevator is original (read: old and unsafe for use), and is waiting to be remodeled. We are NOT wheelchair accessible. Uncorked Canvas is located on the 2nd story, so come early if you struggle with stairs.

Seattle location: Yes, there are ramps on all sidewalks from disabled parking spaces in the lot, and our door is wheelchair-accessible!

Can you ship internationally?

Policies
Are there age restrictions for any of your events? If there's alcohol, can guests under 21 years old attend?
There are absolutely no age restrictions to any of our events, including events where alcohol is served (there are plenty of non-alcoholic beverage options as well).

It is up to children’s guardians to decide what paintings are suitable for them; usually 12-year-olds are ready to move to “adult” paintings, but any age is welcome to all of the events (adults are welcome to the “kids” paintings, too!). If you have questions about specific paintings, feel free to contact us with questions.

CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations are required 24 hours in advance of the event in order to receive a credit for a future event (call/e-mail in the case of an emergency), and 48 hours in advance for refunds. No-shows forfeit their tickets. Late arrivals who arrive too late to participate forfeit their tickets. Events are not cancelled due to weather unless main city streets or highways are closed. You can expect a call near the event time with information if this occurs.

Cancellations can be made online at info@uncorkedcanvas.com or by calling (253) 432-4052, ext. “0”. No refunds will be given for reservations not cancelled 24 hours in advance.

LATENESS
Please respect the other attendees and our staff by not disrupting the class by arriving late. You’re welcome to arrive early; our doors are always open 20 minutes before the event starts. If you are unfamiliar with the area of Tacoma, be sure to print out detailed instructions (our map page) and call with any questions well before the class is supposed to start. If you arrive late, we can not guarantee to have staff available to help you catch up.

20 minutes after the event start time, our doors will be locked. Please plan ahead!

DISRUPTIVE CONDUCT
If you arrive to any of our events obviously intoxicated or otherwise disruptive, you will be asked to leave immediately. If you/your guests become disruptive at a private event, we may decide to stop instruction and invite you to continue your event without painting until the event time is finished, or ask you to leave. If you conduct yourself in this way, your tickets will not be refunded or used for another event. The event will be fun and relaxed, but please be mindful of  the instructor, as well as the others in attendance.
REFUNDS

When you register for an event, we commit  our studio and our instructors’ time to teach, but also spend extra time to prepare the space for you. Because of that, we cannot offer refunds without 48 hours notice, and for private events, we need two weeks in order to re-book that time slot (or your deposit will not be returned).

PRIVACY POLICY

Your privacy is very important to us. Accordingly, we have developed this Policy in order for you to understand how we collect, use, communicate and disclose and make use of personal information. The following outlines our privacy policy.

  • Before or at the time of collecting personal information, we will identify the purposes for which information is being collected.
  • We will collect and use of personal information solely with the objective of fulfilling those purposes specified by us and for other compatible purposes, unless we obtain the consent of the individual concerned or as required by law.
  • We will only retain personal information as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
All cards will be charged at class sign up time, please give us 48 hour notice if you need to cancel. Cancellations can be made online info@uncorkedcanvas.com or by calling (253)432-4052. We will charge the class fee for reservations not cancelled 48 hours in advance.
